The OPR3201 scanner is not usually purchased to read a PDF417 2D barcode, as it is, essentially, a linear barcode scanner that is used to read symbologies such as EAN13 on retail products or Code39 or Code128 barcodes. However, this scanner can read PDF417 but the user needs to read a simple set-up barcode sequence to program the scanner to do so. As soon as we were made aware of the requirement to read PDF417, we responded within minutes with the appropriate set up sheet and all worked for the client as soon as those set-up barcodes were read.
The scanning parts of the OPR-3201 are positioned near the central core of the grip to stabilize the hand movement while scanning. Together with the large grip, this makes it easier and more comfortable to target the barcodes.
