There are also MANY times - too many to count - when I REALLY need the remote thermostats to work because maybe I want to adjust the temp just before someone checks in and once again - either I can't login to Total Connect or it does not let me change anything or it acts like it DID change the temp but the system never comes on - which means I have to get into my car and drive TO the rental myself to make the adjustment. Fortunately I live in the same town as my rentals but I would NEVER suggest anyone count on these things for managing temps at a place where they don't also have easy physical access. I have used these thermostats and Total Connect for at least 4 years now and this has been my experience. Not going to go to the expense of changing to something else - I just felt the need to express my extreme hatred of the programmers at Total Connect - I am taking a wild guess that they are not American.

If the word "programmable" makes you nervous, don't worry-the menu-driven software is very easy and intuitive to use. Note that you will have to hardwire the device to your power supply and to your heating unit-this isn't hard to do, but make sure you read the instructions thoroughly before you start. --Josh Dettweiler
