Datalogic also designed the Pegaso so that its housing can accommodate either a standard or an extended battery without an extra bulge. The battery pack can quickly be replaced, and the optional dock has a charging slot for a second battery right in the front for easy access.
The Pegaso initially ran the Windows CE 5.0 operating environment on a 520 MHz XScale PXA 270 processor and Windows Mobile 6.0 became available in May of 2008. It can withstand drops from up to 5 feet to concrete and is sealed to IP64 specifications. There is 64 or 128 MB of RAM for added program memory and 128 MB of Flash memory for additional non-volatile storage. A user accessible SDIO port allows expandability for additional memory or peripherals.
