Im seeking a gear recommendation for my upcoming 2.5 day trip. I would like to take a popper/lure setup so I purchased a spinfisher 8500LL and paired it with a Ugly Stik Tiger 20-50lb (I'm still considered the Jigging Elite 50-100lb) as a budget setup. <$200

The 8500ll feels big and heavy and I"m considering downsizing to the 6500ll. Is the 6500 capable in landing tuna up to 100lbs? I'm worried about line capacity(280yds of 50lb Braid). Or should I stick with the 8500ll?

However, if you're IN the surf, meaning you're wading in the surf and fishing actively, there's a huge difference on how the reels will perform. The reason is the Surf offers all kinds of issues that gum up reels really quick. When standing in the surf, of course, your reel is going to get pounded by saltwater, but there's other elements, such as that very, very fine "Grit" that's in the surf water, as well as active normal sized sand.
